Pentre Ifan
The
Project
Pentre Ifan is the most iconic and best-preserved Neolithic dolmen in Wales, a symbol of early prehistoric ritual and burial practice. Located in the rolling landscape of Pembrokeshire, the structure dates back over 5,500 years and consists of a striking capstone balanced atop upright portal stones. Though the original burial mound is now lost, the dolmen offers an evocative window into Neolithic life and death.
This self-initiated 3D reconstruction was undertaken to digitally explore and visualise how the complete monument may have once appeared—rebuilding the collapsed earth and stone mound, interpreting architectural details, and highlighting the spatial layout of the site in its original context. The goal was to offer a realistic yet respectful digital representation, enhancing public understanding and appreciation of one of Britain’s most remarkable prehistoric structures.
